Encouraging mobility for better bariatric patient outcomes

The VELA is a bariatric chair for all uses
The VELA Bariatric+ Chair has been designed to transport patients comfortably while reducing the physical demands typically placed on staff. It is an ideal patient chair for bariatric wards where it can be used for rehabilitation, training, examination or simply in transit.
Encouraging patient mobility
With highly manoeuvrable wheels and electric height adjustment, the VELA Bariatric+ makes moving and positioning bariatric patients much easier. Early mobilisation of bariatric patients is associated with better outcomes. Patients can “walk” the chair forward on its smooth wheels, encouraging mobility, independence, rehabilitation and exercise.
Reducing the risk of WRMSDs in clinical staff
Additionally, the VELA Bariatric+ is intended to reduce the risk of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSD) in hospital wards and clinics. Lower back pain, sprained wrists, and shoulder injuries are leading causes of absence in the NHS and private healthcare sectors, so mitigating such injuries through providing clinical staff with the correct equipment is conducive to employee turnover.
